This small collection of Deaver family papers, 1903-1978, assembled by J. Montgomery Deaver, contains biographical information on family members; financial material, particularly papers concerning the estate of Deaver's mother, Caroline Randall Deaver; two typescript addresses on surgical topics by Deaver's father, John B. Deaver; and several photographs of John B. Deaver and J. Montgomery Deaver.

This collection has not been processed. However, the contents of the six boxes seem to be somewhat arranged in a comprehensive manner. The collection includes operation files; correspondence; reprints; speeches and other writings; photgraphs; and awards, certificates, and licenses.

Notes taken by J. W. Brooks on lectures, numbered 1-9 on surgery and 1-2 on bandaging, delivered by Henry Cline, possibly at St. Thomas’ Hospital, London, circa 1780. Subjects include sutures and surgical procedures for tumors of breast and hernias.

Volume of Jacob H. Wehner’s student notes from clinics of Henry Hartshorne, 17 December 1859 to 19 May 1860 and 8 May 1861-29 May 1861, and James Aitken Meigs, 1 September 1860 to 4 May 1861, in Medical Department of Pennsylvania College. Cases include patient’s name, age, diagnosis, and prescription or treatment.
Jacob Jeanes notes on the lectures of Nathaniel Chapman
Two volumes of notes taken by Jacob Jeanes on the beginning lectures by Nathaniel Chapman on the practice of medicine delivered in the winter session of 1821-1822. Vol. 1 (225 pages) contains lectures on fevers. Vol. 2 (251 pages) contains lectures on hemorrhages and diseases of the digestive system. Vol. 2 also bears note “corrected in the winter of 1822-1823” and has many pencil annotations.
Jacob Price notes on the lectures of Thomas D. Mütter
Price’s notes are interleaved with Thomas D. Mütter’s Syllabus of the course of lectures on principles and practice of surgery (Philadelphia, 1847) and expand on printed text. Notes occur in chronological order from 23 October 1848 through 22 February 1849 and consider inflammation, wounds, diseases of bones and joints, abdominal wounds, syphilis, and amputation. There are also a few pages of Price’s review notes, dated February [1849?].
