Volume 4 and 5 of a set of notes taken by John Archer on the lectures of Benjamin Rush, delivered at the University of Pennsylvania from 1796-1797. Topics covered include pathology, the causes of disease, therapeutics, and the practice of medicine, particularly in the case of fevers.

Three volumes of notes on lectures given by Benjamin Rush at the University of Pennsylvania on the topics of pathology, therapeutics, and the practice of medicine. There are two sets of notes on the practice of medicine; one set of notes is in the form of questions.

Abstract The Joseph McFarland papers consist of two collections and documents Dr. McFarland’s medical career, particularly his involvement in parotid tumor and tetanus vaccination research from 1900 to 1943. Dr. McFarland was born in Philadelphia on February 9th, 1868, and received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1889. He continued to study and teach on pathology at various institutions in Philadelphia throughout his career. The collection contains two series, “Correspondence”...

Scope and Contents

This small collection consists of handwritten notes and letters. The first few pages of notes are written on the backs of scrap Army Field Service: Infectious Diseases forms, and include subsequent handwritten addendums with notations on where they belong in the notes. The letters indicate that Bradbury and Krumbhaar intended their findings to be shared with authorities in the management of the Influenza Pandemic, and through publications.

William J. Shaw’s notes on lectures of George H. B. Macleod on surgery at the University of Glasgow, 1874 Nov. 21-1875 Apr. 1. Lectures are numbered 1-91. Subjects are: surgical pathology, tumors, bone fractures, and wounds and injuries of the head, spine, and neck.

Two volumes of notes on lectures delivered by Nathaniel Chapman at the University of Pennsylvania. Lecture topics include physiology, pathology, and the practice of medicine, including diseases of the circulatory, digestive, and respiratory systems, plus lectures on dropsy, gout and diseases of the genital organs. Each volume contains an index.
