The provenance of this collection is unknown. This collection consists of over 2,100 portraits of doctors (possibly all dermatologists). The collection is likely part of the materials donated by the American Academy of Dermatology during the 1970s.

Abstract The Joseph McFarland papers consist of two collections and documents Dr. McFarland’s medical career, particularly his involvement in parotid tumor and tetanus vaccination research from 1900 to 1943. Dr. McFarland was born in Philadelphia on February 9th, 1868, and received his M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1889. This is a small collection of bills for medical and dental services, 1877-1881, provided to Reverend Frank L. Norton and his wife from several physicians in Connecticut, the District of Columbia, Massachusetts, and New York. The bills list fees charged. Physicians represented are: C. H. Atwater, J. P.
